President-elect Trump renewed his “two simple rules” when he takes the White House: buy American and hire American.

In an Instagram post Thursday, Trump reiterated his credo that he unveiled during his “Thank You Tour” rallies following the election.
He was quickly criticized by Democrats for not hiring American workers for his own properties, including a request sent to the Department of Labor last week asking for permission to hire more foreign workers at his vineyard in Virginia. The vineyard was seeking special temporary visas to bring in workers.
The statement came on the heels of Trump announcing on Thursday Sprint was bringing 5,000 jobs back to the United States from overseas. The company announced later on Thursday the jobs were already slated to come back as a part of a previous commitment and had nothing to do with Trump’s election.
Earlier in the week, Trump took credit for an increase in consumer confidence and the surging stock market.
