Alexandria city police arrested two people on charges of driving while intoxicated over the weekend.
The arrests resulted from a special weekend checkpoint officials set up to target DWIs. The police also issued 13 summonses for miscellaneous traffic offenses, officials said.
The sobriety checkpoint lasted from 10 p.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday. Drivers were stopped to let police check for influence of alcohol or drugs. Ten officers and one emergency communications technician participated.
