SEE IT: Florida resident puts ‘woke’ New Yorkers on notice

Several cars with New York license plates parked in a Palm Beach, Florida, community received letters with a warning: “If you’re one of those ‘woke’ people — leave Florida.”

Palm Beach police investigated the letters but determined a crime had not been committed.

“Residents were concerned about the lack of civility and respect for personal property,” Capt. William Rothrock, the department’s public information officer, told the New York Post. “As uncivil as it may be and not characteristic of our community, it is not a crime.”

The Palm Beach community is about an hour north of Fort Lauderdale and a popular winter locale for New Yorkers who head south for warmer weather.

Rothrock did not say how many cars received the letters but confirmed they had out-of-state license plates, many of which were from New York.

A resident who moved to Florida from New York and first reported the letters to police told the Palm Beach Daily Post they were concerned because people can be willing to follow through on such threats.

“America was founded on freedom of religion and thought,” the resident said. “This behavior is another sign that our democracy is in peril.”

Earlier this week, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis blasted “lockdown politicians” for escaping to Florida during the pandemic while they enforce harsh restrictions in their own states.
