Sen. Ted Cruz’s Democratic challenger, Rep. Beto O’Rourke, agreed with HBO late-night host Bill Maher who called the Texas senator a “giant asshole.”
During a Friday night appearance on “Real Time with Bill Maher,” the Democratic hopeful laughed and joined along while the late-night comedian tore into Cruz’s likability.
“Well, don’t forget he’s a giant asshole,” Maher interjected when O’Rourke mentioned how he’s outraised Cruz’s campaign.
“That’s true,” O’Rourke laughed.
“Folks, though, will never have to wonder who it is I represent or who I’m voting for. It’s going to be the people of Texas, every single time,” he continued on a more serious note.
O’Rourke has gained an unprecedented amount of support for a Democratic Senate candidate in Texas, which he credits to Cruz allegedly alienating himself from the voters.
On the day of the Texas primary earlier this month, Cruz remained optimistic that he will win re-election. In his first campaign ad, a jingle mocked O’Rourke, saying, “If you’re gonna run in Texas, you can’t be a liberal man.”
