Whatever happened to Tim Pawlenty?

The former Minnesota governor, former Republican presidential contender and one-time finalist in the race to become Mitt Romney’s vice presidential running mate, just announced that he’s going to be the new CEO of the Financial Services Roundtable, a leading banking lobbying group. Why is Walmart no longer selling Kindles?

The nation’s largest retailer is dropping the e-readers in part because selling them helps Walmart’s competition, analysts said. The Kindle is made by Amazon, the online book dealer that grew into a retail giant in its own right. In helping Amazon sell Kindles, which in turn are used to buy more stuff from Amazon, Walmart feared it was undermining its own efforts to increase online sales. Target Corp. dropped the Kindle five months ago for the same reasons.
