President Trump tweeted his displeasure on Saturday after a federal judge partially blocked his administration’s plan to build a border wall along the United States-Mexico border, calling him an “activist Obama appointed judge.”
Trump said the ruling was “against Border Security and in favor of crime, drugs and human trafficking.”
Another activist Obama appointed judge has just ruled against us on a section of the Southern Wall that is already under construction. This is a ruling against Border Security and in favor of crime, drugs and human trafficking. We are asking for an expedited appeal!

U.S. District Court Judge Haywood Gilliam’s ruling prevents the administration from tapping into $1 billion of Pentagon funds to construct the border wall and restricts construction to only certain portions of Texas and Arizona.
The tweet comes after reports revealed Gilliam, an Obama appointee, had donated $6,900 to Barack Obama’s first presidential campaign and $14,500 to his reelection campaign.
Gilliam made the donations prior to being confirmed as a federal judge in 2014.
When he was being confirmed, Gilliam said he “would base my decisions solely on the facts of each case and the applicable precedent, without regard to any political ideology or motivation” and his personal views would not cloud his judgment.
