A man from Dallas was arrested Monday after traveling to Washington, D.C., to kill “all white police” protecting the White House, according to the Secret Service.
“Secret Service personnel at the White House immediately increased their posture of readiness and began searching for [Michael] Arega,” the Secret Service said in a statement following a warning from Montgomery County Police Department in Maryland at 2:55 p.m.
Uniformed officers arrested Arega on Pennsylvania Avenue near Lafayette Park at 4:05 p.m. and took him to the Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia, where charges are pending.
The investigation into Arega is ongoing, per the Secret Service.
