Cramer could make the cut as Trump energy chief

Rep. Kevin Cramer is under advanced consideration to become President-elect Trump’s head of the Energy Department.

The North Dakota Republican met with Trump Monday night to discuss the possibility of filling the spot as energy chief, he said after the meeting. Cramer had been a trusted energy adviser to the president-elect during the campaign and has been considered for the top spot for some time.

“I will tell you this: He was interested in talking to me about a possible Cabinet post, specifically secretary of energy,” Cramer told the Bismark Tribune. He said Trump asked him if he would leave the House if offered a job in the administration.

“He kept saying, well, which one would you rather do?” Cramer said. “There’s strong pluses to both, and I’d be honored to do either one. I’d do both with enthusiasm and all the influence I have.”
