Watch: First trailer from movie about Obamas’ first date

The upcoming film about President Obama’s first date with his wife, first lady Michelle Obama, just dropped its first trailer on YouTube.

“Southside With You” rewinds the clock to 1989, when Obama, played by Parker Sawyers, took a summer job at a Chicago law firm and Michelle Robinson, played by Tika Sumpter, was his supervisor.

Writer-director Richard Tanne’s dramatized account of the Obamas’ first date will include all the places the duo stopped at that day, including the Art Institute of Chicago and a screening of Spike Lee’s “Do the Right Thing.”

Based on the trailer, the film, executive produced by singer John Legend, will mostly feature Obama’s attempts to woo Michelle, as well as conversations that allude to his political future.

The film is set to hit theaters on Aug. 19.
