A Potomac man has been appointed to head Maryland’s Motor Vehicle Administration.
John T. Kuo has been a top manager at the administration for 11 years. He was appointed chief operating officer in 2003, overseeing the day-to-day workings of the administration’s 1,700 employees and 45 offices.
His appointment was announced Tuesday by Gov. Robert Ehrlich.
He replaces David H. Hugel, who is leaving the agency after nearly three years to become deputy administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
Kuo, 46, the son of Asian immigrants, is a father of two. He has a bachelor’s degree in business management from National-Louis University and studied information systems management at the University of Maryland.
Kuo couldn’t be reached for comment Tuesday. He takes over the $128,000-plus-per-year job May 29.
