Liquor giant Bacardi filed a suit Tuesday against American Airlines in a U.S. District Court after more than 400 cases of imported French cognac went missing in 2021.
The estimated worth of the missing liquor is over $65,000.
American Airlines, a company based in Fort Worth, Texas, was slated to receive 24 pallets with at least 1,680 cases of cognac, Bacardi USA said.

When the liquor arrived in Los Angeles from Paris, six pallets and three cases of the cognac had disappeared, according to the Dallas Morning News.
Bacardi is not directly accusing American Airlines of seizing the liquor, but it alleges that the airline bears responsibility for the missing alcohol.
“While in the possession, custody and control of [American Airlines], six pallets and three cases were lost or stolen,” the lawsuit read.
Each missing pallet held roughly 70 cases, and Bacardi said the worth of the missing liquor is equal to $65,820.72, according to the report.
