Oscars won’t have a host for the first time in 30 years

The Oscars won’t have a host this year, after comedian Kevin Hart bailed on the gig when some of his old homophobic tweets were revealed.

Those with knowledge of the plans told Variety that instead of a single host, producers will assemble a group of A-list celebrities to introduce various segments during the awards show.

No host means no opening monologue, which sources said means there won’t be a speech filled with jokes about President Trump, which have been seen in other awards shows.

Hart pulled out of hosting the Oscars shortly after he was named the host when years-old tweets that included gay jokes surfaced. He apologized and said he wouldn’t be hosting the awards.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences said it would still have Hart on as a host when talk show host Ellen DeGeneres called and told them to reconsider. But the actor and comedian said that they wanted him to issue yet another apology, which he said felt like an ultimatum.

The Oscars are set to air on Feb. 24.
