Trump: ‘I would love to see Kaepernick come’ back to the NFL ‘if he’s good enough’

President Trump said he would “love to see” former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick back in the NFL”if he’s good enough,” while speaking to reporters on Friday.

Kaepernick has been out of the league for two seasons following his controversial decision not to stand for the national anthem as a protest trying to raise awareness about police brutality and racial injustice. At the time of the protests, the president was unhappy with all of the players who were kneeling during the Star Spangled Banner.

Trump was asked about Kaepernick and if he’d like to see the former 49ers quarterback back in the league.

“Only if he’s good enough,” the president answered. “Why would he play? If he’s good enough, and I think if he was good enough, I know the owners and I know Bob Kraft and so many of the owners.”

He continued, “If he’s good enough, they would sign him. So if he’s good enough, I know these people, they would sign him in a heart beat. They will do anything they can to win games. So I would like to see it — frankly, I would love to see Kaepernick come in if he’s good enough. But I don’t want to see him come in because somebody thinks it’s a good PR move.”
