A Utah woman died from wounds that she sustained while hunting on Monday morning with her family.
The 58-year-old from Salt Lake County sustained injuries to her waist and pelvic region from a gunshot in a hunting accident while in Echo Canyon State Park, the Summit County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to the Washington Examiner.
“The family members are being cooperative, and no one else was injured,” Lt. Andrew Wright said. “It appears this is a tragic hunting accident.”
The woman, who was elk hunting with two of her family members, was sitting inside of a utility task vehicle when a rifle went off, the sheriff’s office said.
