Mills? performance illustrates durability of prostheses

Heather Mills, activist and amputee, is competing in ABC?s “Dancing With the Stars” this season, raising questions about how well prostheses can hold up under the demands of the stage.

David Moldover, an amputee for 10 years, also is a professional dancer and he knows how well they can work. Moldover has competed in numerous events, specializing in West Coast Swing, and teaches throughout Baltimore, Washington and Virginia.

“Once the pin is engaged to the lock, the only way it can be released from the locking mechanism is by manually pressing the release button built into the prosthesis,” he said.
