MSNBC anchor apologizes for omitting John Conyers from segment about sexual misconduct

MSNBC daytime anchor Stephanie Ruhle apologized Wednesday after she moderated a segment on sexual misconduct that covered Republican U.S. Senate candidate Roy Moore and not the allegations against Democratic Rep. John Conyers.

In her apology, Ruhle said the segment was supposed to include conversation about Conyers, who reportedly settled sexual harassment allegations by one of his staff members several years ago, but it was interrupted by breaking news involving a tweet President Trump had sent out about North Korea.

“Before we go, I want to apologize quickly,” Ruhle said. “Sexual misconduct is not dedicated to one political party, or company, one industry. In the last segment, we were talking about accusations against Roy Moore. Our plan was to then turn and talk about accusations against John Conyers.”

“We were then interrupted because of the breaking news about the president’s tweet making a statement about our approach in increased sanctions against North Korea. We did not have the opportunity to talk about John Conyers.”

She said Conyers would be covered on a program she co-anchors later in the day.

In the segment about accusations against Roy Moore, which include claims that he attempted to seduce teenage girls when he was in his 30s, Ruhle moderated a discussion with former Democratic New York mayoral candidate Christine Quinn and New York Times reporter Kate Kelly.
