The White House brushed off a question on Tuesday about whether Donald Trump is accurate when he says Hillary Clinton has constantly used the “woman card” to get ahead in her career.
Presidential press secretary Josh Earnest declined to weigh in when asked, and said simply, “Secretary Clinton and her team can certainly speak to her qualifications and credentials.”
The billionaire businessman trained his sights on Clinton Tuesday by arguing that Clinton doesn’t have any other cards to play this election, and specifically taking issue with her pledge Monday night to ensure that half of her presidential cabinet would be women.
“The only thing she’s got is the woman card,” Trump said on Fox News Tuesday morning. “That’s all she’s got, and it’s pandering. It’s a weak card in her hand. In another person’s hand it could be a very powerful card.”
