From politicians to pundits on both sides of the aisle, everyone seemed to be doling out criticism for New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo after his resignation.
Many evoked the New York nursing home scandal in their responses, in which Cuomo ordered nursing homes to admit COVID-19-positive patients, spiking deaths among residents, and then misrepresented the true resulting death toll, according to a New York State Bar Association report.

“He. Is. Out. God bless America,” said Fox News meteorologist Janice Dean, who has been a critic of his coronavirus response since her mother-in-law and father-in-law died amid the nursing home crisis.

“To all the sanctimonious hacks who diminished @JaniceDean as just the ‘weather’ person as she called att’n to the bullying, illegal, immoral practices of the now-disgraced Andrew Cuomo, thank you for helping to motivate her even more. Soledad, Dowd, Stiller, etc,” Megyn Kelly tweeted.

“My heart is with the brave Cuomo survivors who endured attempts to discredit them like I did coming forward about Joe Biden with the help of nonprofits that were supposed to help women, like Time’s Up,” Tara Reade, who accused Biden of sexual assault when he was a senator, said on Fox News. “May there be some measure of justice for the survivors. Now let’s call for a real investigation into Joe Biden and expose the corruption protecting powerful predators.”
Others noted how the media have praised Cuomo as a model leader and for how he handled the coronavirus in his state.

“New Yorkers have lived for far too long under the Worst Governor in America’s corrupt and criminal tenure,” Rep. Elise Stefanik, a New York Republican, said in a statement. “This resignation is long past overdue. Governor Cuomo needs to be arrested and prosecuted for sexual harassment, sexual assault, and sexual abuse. Governor Cuomo also needs to be arrested and prosecuted for his criminal acts covering up the tragic deaths of our most vulnerable seniors in nursing homes.”
“The systemic culture of criminal corruption, political vengeance, and illegal retaliation under Andrew Cuomo was brushed under the rug for years by Democrats, the media, and the cesspool of Albany. It is a disgraceful chapter in New York’s history,” she continued.
