Survey: Va. second most corrupt state

In the ongoing battle between Virginia and Maryland, the commonwealth has lost the latest round.

Or won — depending on your perspective.

In a survey published by the Daily Beast, Virginia was ranked as the second-most-corrupt state in the nation, trailing only Tennessee. The report was based on convictions and arrests in the categories of public corruption, racketeering and extortion, forgery and counterfeiting, fraud, and embezzlement.

Maryland came in 23rd. D.C., while ranked 36th, was first in public corruption and second in racketeering and extortion. The “cleanest” state was New Hampshire.
