While President Trump has a record-low approval rating at the 100-day mark, people who supported him in the election would still do so, a new poll found.
An ABC News/Washington Post poll pegged Trump’s approval rating at 42 percent, with a disapproval rating of 53 percent. The average for past presidents near 100 days in office is 69 percent approval and 19 percent disapproval, ABC said.
But people who voted for the president have no buyer’s remorse. The poll found that 96 percent of those who supported Trump in November would vote for him again today, ABC said.
Another silver lining for Trump is that the Democrats aren’t faring much better.
The poll found 67 percent believe the Democratic party is out of touch with the concerns of most Americans, which is similar to the 62 percent for Republicans.
Trump also got high marks for pressuring companies to stay in the U.S. (73 percent) and 51 percent approved of his recent missile strike on Syria.
The poll was of 1,004 adults surveyed April 17-20 and has a margin of error of 3.5 percentage points.
