Man charged with killing wife spent days with body

MALTA, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say a 69-year-old man killed his wife inside their upstate New York home last week, then spent several days with the body before police found her.

Officials say a Saratoga County sheriff’s deputy looking into the welfare of 65-year-old Kathleen Wilkinson on Sunday found her body on a bedroom floor in her home in the town of Malta, 20 miles north of Albany.

They say the deputy was let into the home by her husband, Charles Wilkinson. He has been charged with second-degree murder.

Officials say Kathleen Wilkinson was killed during a domestic dispute last week. They say the husband spent the weekend in the house with her body.

The time and cause of death haven’t been released. Authorities are holding a news conference Monday morning.

It couldn’t be immediately determined if Wilkinson has a lawyer.
