Biden pays respects to Ruth Bader Ginsburg lying in state

Joe Biden paid his respects to the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg as she lay in state at the U.S. Capitol on Friday.

The Democratic presidential nominee and former vice president visited Ginsburg’s casket in the Capitol’s Statuary Hall with his wife, Jill Biden.

His running mate, California Sen. Kamala Harris, was also in Statuary Hall to pay respects to Ginsburg. Biden and Harris exchanged a wave across the hall, and she later walked across the room and chatted with the Biden for a few minutes, according to a pool report.

As he left the Capitol, a reporter asked what it was like to be in the building with her one last time.

“It was like when I met her when I did her hearing. I was the chairman of the committee, and I was — when she was confirmed,” Biden told reporters. “Wonderful memories,” he added.

Biden does not have any other public events or activities scheduled for Friday.
