DNC says GOP can no longer hide behind Kasich’s friendly face

Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz announced that with John Kasich ending his campaign, the GOP could no longer hide their policies behind the “friendly” faces of the party.

“With Gov. Kasich out of the race, any remaining hope the GOP had of concealing its true colors behind his comparatively friendly-faced candidacy has evaporated,” Wasserman Schultz said in a statement on Wednesday as the media reported Kasich would drop out of the race.

After Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus deemed Donald Trump the “presumptive nominee” on Tuesday night, Wasserman Schultz immediately pounced on the GOP, criticizing voters for choosing Trump to represent their party.

“Today, the only energy left in the Republican primary isn’t for anything, it’s against everything that doesn’t line up with their extreme views,” Wasserman Schultz said of Trump. “The obstruction and broken government we’re seeing in Washington is the result.”

Although both Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders remain in the Democratic race, the former secretary of state will likely reach the necessary 2,383 delegates to become the party nominee in the coming weeks and is already preparing to do battle with Trump in a general election.
