It does not look like a Massachusetts man will be earning his stripes at a zoo he visited anytime soon.
The Franklin Park Zoo notified state police Monday morning of a trespasser who had entered the zoo 15 minutes before opening. The man, Matthew Abraham, was attempting to enter the zoo’s tiger exhibit before being stopped by security officials, according to Boston 25.
“Zoo Security was called and they, along with additional staff, immediately began a search for the trespasser, who was quickly located,” read a statement from Zoo New England, the managers of the zoo. “State Police responded and removed him from the property. No animals, nor people, were injured.”

Boston Emergency Medical Services evaluated Abraham and deemed him as mentally competent, though state police said its investigation determined he “scaled multiple fences in his attempt to get to the tigers, ignoring multiple posted signs advising the public to stay out that area.” When police asked Abraham about his motives to break in, he only said “he was very interested in tigers,” the outlet reported.
Abraham was booked on charges of trespassing and disorderly conduct. Police said a bail clerk was contacted and “released Abraham on only the standard $40 clerk’s fee.” Police added he was “ordered to appear in Dorchester District Court for arraignment, most likely (Tuesday),” according to the outlet.
