Crane collapses in Dallas, killing at least one and injuring several others

One is dead and six are injured after a construction crane collapsed into a Dallas apartment building.

Dallas Fire Rescue spokesman Jason Evans confirmed the numbers to CNN on Sunday, and also explained that all five floors of the east side of the building have collapsed.

The strong storm that knocked over the crane has also left more than 100,000 people in the area without power, he said.

Isaiah Allen, a man who lives in the Old East Dallas apartment building told The Dallas Morning News he was inside his apartment when he heard what sounded like a loud thunderclap.

“I saw that the crane had actually fell straight through the building and had destroyed a good eight to 10 apartments and so there’s like floors and stuff falling through,” he said.

The Dallas-Forth Worth metropolis experienced wind gusts of more than 65 miles per hour on Sunday, leading to severe damage to homes and businesses throughout the area. More than 1000,000 people in the area remain without power.
