Oprah Winfrey insisted Thursday that she is absolutely not considering a run for the White House as she campaigned for Georgia’s Democratic gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams.
“I want to make it very clear … I don’t want to run, okay? I’m not trying to test any waters. Don’t want to go in those waters. I’m here today because of Stacey Abrams,” Winfrey said, adding that she was not there to make some grandstand with underlying intentions.

The former talk show host also said that she was there to campaign because of the people who fought for minorities’ right to vote.
“I refuse to let their sacrifices go in vain,” Winfrey continued.
Winfrey said that she was interested in joining Abrams’ campaign because she had been thinking about Georgia and agreed with the candidate’s values. She also said that she was the one who reached out to Abrams.
“Nobody paid for me to come here, nobody even asked me to come here, I paid for myself and I approve this message,” Winfrey said.

Rumors of a Winfrey presidency circulated this year before the public figure shot the idea down, saying she did not have any interest or intention to run for president.
A poll from earlier this week showed that if it came to a celebrity president, Winfrey would be the favorite, especially among millennial voters.
