The Washington Examiner’s Kaylee McGhee urged President Joe Biden to extend Title 42, a pandemic-era border policy.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention implemented the policy, which allows Border Patrol agents to turn away immigrants at the border simply on the basis of preventing overcrowding and subsequent spread of COVID-19. It is set to expire May 23.
“It is important to keep in mind that the CDC was the agency to first recommend this public health order for the coronavirus,” McGhee told Fox’s Neil Cavuto. “But since it’s worked so well, the Biden administration really ought to think about extending it, keeping it in place, maybe not necessarily for COVID anymore, but certainly to prevent waves of migration from flooding border cities that just cannot handle them.”
ON TRANSGENDERISM, THE BIDEN ADMINISTRATION IS DISGUISING CRUELTY AS COMPASSION
Arizona, Louisiana, and Missouri announced a lawsuit against the president over Title 42 earlier this week. Republicans are predicting as many as 18,000 immigrants a day will cross the border.
McGhee said that border policies will be a huge hinge-point for Democrats amid elections. She pointed to former President Barrack Obama’s visit to the White House on Tuesday.

“Maybe this is a sign we’ll see more of Obama in the next few months as Democrats ramp up for the midterms,” McGhee said. “I certainly do not think that it’s a coincidence that this is his first appearance at the White House since 2017.”
