The adult film star who accused President Trump of paying her off for her silence regarding their alleged sexual relationship is offering to give back the $130,000 she was paid by his personal lawyer in order to talk about her relationship.
Stormy Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, wrote in a letter to Trump’s lawyer Michael Cohen that the money would be wired to an account for Trump by Friday.
“This has never been about the money,” Clifford’s lawyer, Michael Avenatti, told NBC News on Monday. “It has always been about Ms. Clifford being allowed to tell the truth. The American people should be permitted to judge for themselves who is shooting straight with them and who is misleading them. Our offer seeks to allow this to happen.”
In a lawsuit filed last week, Clifford said the “hush agreement” was not valid because Trump never signed it.
