WHAT: Frank applauded a $147,500 federal grant awarded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services to the New Bedford Whaling Museum.
WHY IT’S AN OUTRAGE: The grant will be used to hire three people to catalog old financial ledgers of Merchants Bank, dating back to 1825, that were discovered last fall that could shed light on the whaling business. But donating them to a local university would achieve the same result for free.
