U.S. Marshal accused of stealing

A U.S. Marshals Service investigator is accused of using his government fleet charge card to fill up his personal pick-up truck with gas.

Peter F. Rouse was charged this week in federal court in Greenbelt with theft of public money. According to a court affidavit, he made more than $1,000 in unauthorized charges between August 2009 and December 2010.

Rouse came to authorities’ attention his supervisors noticed that his fleet charge card expenses were significantly higher than other employees’ charges and that he had not provided proper receipts, the affidavit says.

His charge card also showed fuel purchases on weekends, holidays and other times outside Rouse’s work hours, court documents say. Gas station surveillance video shows Rouse filling up his personal Ford F-150 with gas, according to court records.
