A man has been charged with shooting another man in Cockeysville, then dumping his body near Interstate 270 in Gaithersburg.
Jeffrey A. Gregory, 44, is charged with first-degree murder in the slaying of 40-year-old Gerardo Botello, according to Baltimore County police.
Montgomery County police found Botello’s body on Feb. 5, 2009, but he wasn’t identified until two months later. Detectives identified him through a fingerprint match in New York state.
Police said authorities learned in November 2010 that the killing took place in Baltimore County, and witnesses reported that Botello was shot to death there.
Gregory was charged Feb. 4, 2011. But police didn’t disclose the arrest — or the fact that the homicide occurred in Cockeysville —until the Baltimore Sun began making inquiries about the case in late February, the Sun reports.
