Beltsville-based solar energy company SunEdison opened a satellite office outside Denver this week, increasing its presence in a state that has become a hotbed of solar energy.
The office in Westminster, Colo., will serve as the company’s operations center for regulatory affairs and for solar system program delivery, operations and asset management in several states.
“Colorado’s leadership is at the forefront of some of the most significant solar activations in the United States,” SunEdison Chief Operating Officer Carlos Domenech said in a statement.
SunEdison’s largest solar deployment, an 8.2-megawatt grid, is based in Alamosa, Colo., 150 miles south of Denver.
Last month, the company announced plans to place a 1.2-megawatt array on GM Powertrain’s Baltimore Transmission plant in White Marsh. The 8,700-panel, 300,000-square-foot system will go online during the third quarter of 2009, and will be one of the largest rooftop installations on the East Coast.
