A group of lawyers, judges, legal scholars and law students wrote a letter to Senate leaders boosting Judge Neil Gorsuch’s Supreme Court nomination.
The Judge William E. Doyle Inn of Court is an organization of the legal community in Colorado. Fifty-one of its members wrote the letter to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley and the Judiciary Committee’s top-ranking Democrat, Sen. Dianne Feinstein.
“Judge Gorsuch has shown himself to be a judge — and a person — of extraordinary decency and collegiality with a deep respect for the law,” the members of the inn wrote. “Judge Gorsuch’s strength of character and intellect is valued by our Inn and the Colorado legal community. The Supreme Court would be well-served by someone with these characteristics.”
The members, who include Judge Tim Tymkovich, who was also on President Trump’s Supreme Court short list, wrote that Gorsuch was an active member of the inn and served as a “pupilage leader.” Gorsuch’s confirmation hearings begin in the Senate next month.
