Feds honor Blue Ribbon schools at luncheon

U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan honored area schools named “Blue Ribbon” schools Tuesday with an awards luncheon at the Omni Shoreham in Northwest.

Designated in September, Blue Ribbon schools are those taht helped close the “achievement gap” between minority students and their white peers at a high level on performance measures this past year. Of 50 private schools and 264 public, here’s who the feds named the area’s best:
