Body found at interstate rest stop in Va

NEW KENT, Va. (AP) — Virginia State Police are investigating what killed a man found dead in a parked car at an interstate rest stop in New Kent County.

Officials say police responded to the westbound rest area along Interstate 64 after an attendant called reporting a suspicious vehicle on Saturday evening.

Media outlets report that the police found a man in his early 20’s dead in the driver seat of a car in the parking lot.

Police say the body was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Richmond. An autopsy will be conducted Monday to determine the exact cause and nature of the death.

The identity of the deceased is pending next of kin notification.

The rest area remains open.
