Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett is celebrating the start of African Heritage Month with a gala in Silver Spring on Labor Day weekend.
Hosted by members of the county’s African Affairs Advisory Group, the event will be held Sept. 4 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Silver Spring Civic Building in Veterans Plaza and will feature African cuisine and musical entertainment. Leggett also will present a proclamation in honor of the month, and the county will honor those who have contributed to the African diaspora.
