Congressman destroyed in grocery bagging contest

Rep. Reid Ribble, R-Wis., suffered a crushing defeat at a congressional grocery bagging competition Wednesday between him and Stephanie Teteak. Teteak, of Larry’s Piggly Wiggly in Kaukauna, Wis., recently took the National Grocers Association’s $10,000 prize for the nation’s best bagger and demonstrated her skills on “Letterman.”

Ribble expressed nervousness before the matchup, which took place in front of a crowd of 50 at the Rayburn building. “I don’t think this will take very long,” he said. Indeed, Teteak easily handled Ribble, her representative in Congress, by bagging a table of groceries in 36.81 seconds. Ribble clocked in at 57.66. No eggs were broken.

The congressman took the loss well, offering Teteak a hearty congratulations.
