Sen. John Kennedy of Louisiana credited Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky with rising to the forefront of world leadership, suggesting President Joe Biden’s actions in regard to the war in Ukraine have been a “wimp fest.”
When discussing Zelensky’s speech, given virtually before Congress Wednesday morning, Kennedy told Hannity his thoughts on who the real leader of the free world is.
“I think it’s clear that the leader of the free world is President Zelensky,” Kennedy said. “He and the Ukrainian people are tough as a boot. And we need to have their back.”
Kennedy added that the Biden administration’s sanctions on Russia’s Central Bank have hurt Putin but have not “brought him to his knees.”
“President Biden’s economic response to the invasion, in my judgment, has been a wimp fest,” Kennedy said.

While the Republican senator agreed that supplying MiG fighter jets to Ukraine has its risks, he said he supports allowing the Ukrainians to take the jets into their airspace, noting it was Russia who supplied planes to North Vietnam and North Korea during those respective wars.
“Biden won’t even agree to that, as if he is looking for excuses,” Kennedy added. “I don’t understand the reluctance of the president.”

Kennedy also blasted the Congressional Democrats for not supporting energy policies that allow the United States to take the lead in oil production, calling them “woker darlings.”
The Republican senator said Biden does not have the courage to stand up to them.
“Some people in his administration believe that $6 gas will make people buy electric vehicles,” Kennedy added. “And that’s a hell of an attitude.”
