Moviegoers can rejoice once more as Screen on the Green, D.C.’s famous free outdoor movie festival, returns to the National Mall for the 2012 summer season.
In its 14th year, four movies will be shown, starting with “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” on July 16.
“We are delighted to continue this summertime tradition,” said Richard Plepler, co-president of HBO.
HBO and Comcast continue to partner with Screen on the Green to bring a lineup of classic movies. This summer, the action moves to a new location on the Mall between 7th and 12th streets. Each movie will be shown on a 20-by-40-foot outdoor screen just after sunset.
Along with “Butch Cassidy,” the Frank Capra film “It Happened One Night” staring Clark Gable will be shown July 25, “From Here to Eternity” (1953) starring Burt Lancaster and Frank Sinatra on July 30, and Alfred Hitchcock’s “Psycho” will close out the season on Aug. 6.
