Several members of the media were offended by President Trump’s push for a tougher U.S. immigration policy on Easter Sunday, and one even suggested Trump should be impeached over the move.

Trump said Sunday that efforts to secure a new Deferred Action on Childhood Arrivals program are dead in light of Mexico’s failure to secure its side of the border, after a report that a caravan of more than 1,000 migrants was headed toward the United States.

But on CNN Monday, two commentators implied Trump’s message was in poor taste on Easter morning.

“The fact he decides to go on offense and talk about a nuclear option against Dreamers on Easter morning says a lot about where his head and his heart is,” said John Avlon, editor in chief of the Daily Beast.

Immediately after, CNN political analyst Brian Karem also raised questions about the timing of Trump’s message.

“On Easter Sunday you’re going to tweet this out?” he asked.

On Sunday, Scott Dworkin, a podcast host who is also an MSNBC contributor, said Trump should be impeached for tweeting about immigration on Easter.

Filmmaker Michael Moore sarcastically said there is “no better way to celebrate Easter” than to pull the plug on a DACA deal for “Dreamers.”

Others also took shots at Trump. CNN’s Manu Raju noted Trump’s “Easter message” over the weekend.

And Eugene Scott of the Washington Post lamented that Trump spent his Easter on an “anti-immigration tirade.”
