The Arlington County Board approved an increase in taxi cab fares Saturday morning on a 3-2 vote.
The rate will go up from $2 per mile to $2.10 per mile as of Jan. 1.
The board also mandated that all Arlington-based cabs accept credit cards as of Dec. 1.
The new fare is meant to help the cabbies with the rising costs of operating cabs. The last fare increase in 2008, according to a county press release.
