NFL star and former first-round draft pick of the Las Vegas Raiders Henry Ruggs III was involved in a fatal car crash Tuesday morning, police said.
Ruggs, who played college ball at Alabama, crashed his Corvette into a Toyota RAV4 at 3:39 a.m., killing an unidentified person in the Toyota. Ruggs was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Police said the NFL star showed “signs of impairment” at the scene.
“Ruggs will be charged with DUI resulting in death,” police said.
The driver of the Chevrolet, identified as 22-year-old Henry Rugs III, remained on scene and showed signs of impairment. He was transported to UMC hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Ruggs will be charged with DUI resulting in death. (3/3)

The Raiders, which had their bye and did not play over the weekend, issued a statement expressing condolences to the victim’s family.
“The Raiders are aware of an accident involving Henry Ruggs III that occurred this morning in Las Vegas,” the sports team shared Tuesday afternoon. “We are devastated by the loss of life and our thoughts and prayers go out to the victim’s family. We are in the process of gathering information and will have no further comment at this time.”

Ruggs’s attorneys, David Chesnoff and Richard Schonfeld, told TMZ Sports, “On behalf of our client Henry Ruggs III we are conducting our own investigation as of this writing and ask everyone to reserve judgment until all the facts are gathered.”
Ruggs played on Alabama’s 2017 national championship team and is in his second year in the NFL. He is having a breakout season, with 24 receptions, 469 yards, and two touchdowns through seven games.
