Bloomberg, mayor of New York City, will be George Washington University’s commencement speaker for next spring on the National Mall. Bloomberg will speak to an estimated 25,000 graduates and guests on May 15. He will also receive an honorary degree of Doctor of Public Service at the ceremony. Bloomberg has served as New York’s mayor for the past nine years. Previous GW commencement speakers include First Lady Michelle Obama and former president George H.W. Bush.
