Trump a 20-1 favorite to prevail at Senate trial: Bookmakers

Gamblers see little chance of President Trump being removed from office following the historic impeachment vote on Wednesday, even viewing him as the slight favorite to win the 2020 election, according to bookmakers in Las Vegas.

Senate Republicans have signaled they stand four-square behind Trump, making it all but impossible that a two-thirds majority of senators will find him guilty of abuse of power or obstruction of Congress, the two articles of impeachment.

As a result, SportsBetting.ag is offering odds of Trump being found guilty in the Senate of 20-1 against it. The numbers work out to 4.76% probability that he will be removed, and gamblers could expect to receive only $5 for every $100 wagered.

For now, the whole process is in limbo after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced she had no immediate plans to send the articles of impeachment to the Senate.

And there is more good news for the current resident of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. The latest odds at SportsBetting have Trump on course to win reelection. Trump is the odds on favorite at 10-11 to win in 2020, followed by Joe Biden at 5-1, and Bernie Sanders and Pete Buttigieg at 8-1.

Meanwhile, Joe Biden has moved to a 3-1 favorite to win the Democratic nomination, while Bernie Sanders and Pete Buttigieg — Buttigieg is the front-runner to win the Iowa caucuses — are both 4-1, and Elizabeth Warren is at 5-1.
