Rep. Ralph Norman (R-SC) called for a military takeover to keep former President Donald Trump in power after he failed to win the election in 2020, according to a report.
Norman’s idea for martial law, which he wrote as “Marshall Law,” was sent via text to former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows on Jan. 17, 2021 — three days before President Joe Biden took office, per a report from Talking Points Memo.
“Mark, in seeing what’s happening so quickly, and reading about the Dominion law suits attempting to stop any meaningful investigation we are at a point of … no return … in saving our Republic !! Our LAST HOPE is invoking Marshall Law!! PLEASE URGE TO PRESIDENT TO DO SO!!” Norman reportedly wrote.
LEAKED: TEXT MESSAGES FROM TRUMP ALLIES IN CONGRESS ON CHALLENGING 2020 ELECTION
Meadows was forced to hand over 2,319 text messages as part of the House select committee’s investigation into the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.
The text messages have revealed several correspondences between the former chief of staff and at least 34 Republican members who were contemplating overturning the 2020 election. TPM’s analysis determined Meadows received at least 364 messages relating to reversing the election results, sending 95 messages of his own.

“Obviously, martial law was never warranted,” Norman said in a statement to the Washington Examiner. “That text message came from a source of frustration, on the heels of countless unanswered questions about the integrity of the 2020 election, without any way to slow down and examine those issues prior to the inauguration of the newly elected president.”
