Former President Donald Trump added fuel to rumors that he might pull a Grover Cleveland after he made a passing comment in a video posted Wednesday.
As Trump set up his tee during a game of golf, the person filming identified Trump as “the 45th president of the United States,” to which Trump added, “45th and 47th.” The video, which was posted to Instagram by the Yeshiva World, was met with cheers from his fellow golfers.
The former president has hinted at a 2024 presidential run since he left office last year. He said last Thursday that he would give an answer on a 2024 run at a later date but repeated his line to supporters that they’ll “be very happy” with his decision. He said in July 2021 that he had decided whether he would run again.

Though other GOP candidates have been discussed as 2024 front-runners, Trump held a massive lead with his competitors in a new Harvard CAPS/Harris poll shared to the Hill on Monday. Trump received 57% of support among Republican voters in the poll, with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis at 12% and former Vice President Mike Pence at 11%. The poll surveyed 1,815 registered voters from Jan. 19 to Jan. 20 and has an undisclosed margin of error.
Cleveland is the only president who was elected to nonconsecutive terms, becoming the 22nd and 24th president when elected in 1884 and 1892.
