Illinois women accused of false kidnapping claim

WHEATON, Ill. (AP) — Two women from Chicago’s western suburbs are accused of falsely claiming to have kidnapped a man’s granddaughter in an attempt to extort money from him.

Nineteen-year-old Deanna Nolan of Lisle and 20-year-old Jakarre Brown of Maywood are charged with disorderly conduct. Their bond was set Thursday at $50,000 each.

Prosecutors say the women claimed to be holding a friend and threatened in a phone call Wednesday to her grandfather that they would kill her if their demand for money was not met.

The man reported the threat to Naperville police. Detectives arrested the women the same night.

The man’s granddaughter was found safe at another friend’s house.

Phone listings could not be found for the two suspects and it was not clear if they already had attorneys.
