President Trump said he found the Senate Judiciary Committee’s hearings Thursday “brutal” and “hard to watch.”
Speaking to guests of House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s, R-Calif., Protect the House joint fundraising committee event, Trump commended Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh for pushing through the afternoon event in which he was asked about sexual assault allegations, the Associated Press reported, citing an attendee.

Trump arrived late to the event at the Trump International Hotel — just a mile from the White House — because he was watching the conclusion of the hearing.
At the conclusion of the committee’s hearing, Trump said his endorsement of Kavanaugh still stands.
“Judge Kavanaugh showed America exactly why I nominated him. His testimony was powerful, honest, and riveting. Democrats’ search and destroy strategy is disgraceful and this process has been a total sham and effort to delay, obstruct, and resist. The Senate must vote!” Trump tweeted minutes after the Capitol Hill hearing concluded.
Thursday morning, California professor Christine Blasey Ford testified before the committee about an alleged incident with Kavanaugh that took place when the two were in high school more than 30 years ago. Ford claimed Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her while he was drunk at a party.
In a separate hearing before the same committee later in the day, Kavanaugh took the stage and repudiated Ford’s story.
