The woman who pleaded guilty to reckless endangerment after police found her daughter chained to a bed for nearly three days will not face more jail time.
Instead, Tia Whitehead, 34, of Baltimore City, must complete five years of supervised probation, a 12-week “Positive Parenting” program and attend Parents Anonymous support group meetings, Baltimore City Circuit Judge Albert Matriccian ruled Wednesday.
Whitehead spent about four months in jail after police found her 15-year-old daughter chained to a bed in a bedroom at a house on the 3200 block of Beehler Avenue in Baltimore City in June.
Police said the girl was denied food and water for nearly 72 hours.
On Dec. 1, Whitehead?s boyfriend Samuel Pounds, 30, of Baltimore City, pleaded guilty to one count of reckless endangerment.
Pounds chained the teenage girl to the bed, while Whitehead did nothing to stop him, prosecutors said.
Baltimore City Circuit Judge Joseph Kaplan sentenced Pounds to 18 months in jail followed by three years supervised probation.
He also ordered Pounds to complete a young father?s course, submit to drug and alcohol screening, complete an anger-management course and stay away from the victim and the victim?s family.
