The man accused of being the East Coast Rapist is facing an assault charge for fighting with his cellmate in a Connecticut jail.
The Hartford Courant reported that rape suspect Aaron H. Thomas assaulted another inmate during an argument in a common area about two weeks ago. It wasn’t clear what the dispute was about. The other inmate didn’t require medical treatment, a corrections spokesman told the newspaper.
Thomas, 39, is facing charges of third-degree assault and disorderly conduct.
Thomas was arrested in Connecticut last month in connection with the East Coast Rapist attacks.
Police say the East Coast Rapist assaulted 17 women in Virginia, Maryland, Connecticut and Rhode Island, beginning in 1997. So far, Thomas has been charged in New Haven, Conn., as well as in Loudoun and Prince William counties in Virginia.
